Types of STRUGAL aluminium gates

Every entrance has its own space, usage and aesthetic requirements. STRUGAL offers three main types that we manufacture in our workshop:

Sliding gate: for wide entrances

The sliding gate moves laterally along a rail (top or bottom) parallel to the perimeter wall. It is the preferred choice for villas, rural estates and residential communities in Granada because it requires no frontal opening space and can automate entrances up to 8 metres wide. The bottom rail is more affordable; the top rail (cantilevered) avoids groundwork and is ideal for sloped terrain common in areas like Sacromonte, Huétor Vega or La Zubia.

Swing gate: classic and robust

The two-leaf swing gate is the traditional solution, with reinforced hinges anchored to masonry pillars. It requires frontal opening clearance (leaf sweep) but offers the most elegant aesthetics for classic-style homes, farmhouses and stately houses in Granada. Motorisation with electromechanical articulated arms enables full automation.

Sectional gate: vertical for space-limited garages

The sectional gate opens vertically and retracts into the garage ceiling, taking up zero frontal or lateral space. It is the ideal option for urban garages in Granada city and Malaga where every centimetre matters. Aluminium sandwich panels with injected polyurethane foam provide excellent thermal insulation (Ud 1.0 W/m²K).

Smart motorisation: control from your phone

Motorisation transforms your gate into an intelligent device connected to your home. All our installations include:

• App control (iOS/Android): open and close from anywhere in the world. Ideal if you are running late and need to let in a family member, delivery driver or cleaner.
• Smart-home compatibility: native integration with Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit and KNX systems. Program routines: 'when I say goodnight, close gate, arm alarm and switch off exterior lights'.
• Timed auto-close: if you forget to close, the gate closes automatically after 1, 3 or 5 minutes (configurable). Never again an open garage all night.
• Emergency battery: if the power goes out, the backup battery allows 20-30 additional operations. In Granada, where storm-related power cuts are common in residential estates, this feature is essential.
• Opening log: the app records who opens and when. Parental control, employee access or second-home surveillance.

• RAL powder-coating: over 200 standard colours. Most requested in Granada: RAL 7016 (anthracite grey), RAL 9005 (black), RAL 8017 (chocolate brown), RAL 9010 (white).
• Wood-effect laminate: photorealistic films that replicate natural wood grain and texture (oak, walnut, cherry) without the maintenance real wood demands.
• Anodised: silver, bronze and black for a durable, scratch-resistant metallic finish.
• Dual colour: one colour outside (street-facing) and another inside (matching the garage). An increasingly popular option.

Turnkey installation process

Our gate service covers everything from the first visit to commissioning:

• Free technical visit: we measure the opening, assess the terrain (slope, surface type, distance to the house), analyse intended use and propose the best type.
• 3D design: we show you how your gate will look with the chosen finish on an actual photo of your facade.
• CNC manufacturing: we cut and assemble at our Granada workshop with millimetre precision.
• Civil works: rail foundation (sliding), pillar reinforcement (swing), lintel preparation (sectional).
• Motor and electronics fitting: motor, photocells, safety edge, receiver installation and app setup.

How long does a full gate installation take?

Between 3 and 5 working days: 1-2 days of civil works (if needed), 1 day for gate fitting and 1 day for motorisation and commissioning. Prior manufacturing takes 15-20 working days from order confirmation.

Can an existing manual gate be motorised?

Yes, provided the gate structure is in good condition. We install sliding motors, articulated arms for swing gates and operators for sectional gates. If the gate is deteriorated, we assess whether motorising or replacing is the better option.

What happens during a power cut?

All our motors include manual key release and an optional emergency battery (20-30 operations). In Granada, where summer storms cause occasional outages, the emergency battery is a worthwhile investment.
